In July 2014, David traveled to the island of Alameda, across the bay from San Francisco, juried into the Frank Bette Paint-out there.  “It was my very first trip to California,” said David.  “When bystanders saw my name tag, which included my hometown, their first question was always, ‘What are you doing so far from home?’”  My answer was always, “Adventure!”

David took honorable mention in the Alameda event.

In June of 2014, David participated in “Easels in Frederick,” the juried plein-air competition, in Frederick County, Maryland.  He was one of 30 national artists to be accepted into this event.  This was David’s second consecutive appearance.
